Protecting The Bay
Better Environmental Protection With Smart Development
· EGLE has already approved the wetlands permit. That means our plan meets the highest state and federal standards. The protection plan was developed by nationally recognized wetlands expert Charles Wolverton.
· We’ll create a net gain of wetlands. We made a commitment to EGLE to restore wetlands that were filled in during construction of the original campground. We’re planting hundreds of native wetlands trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants.
· A 15.9 acre permanent conservation easement will be given to the state as part of the wetlands plan. This is in addition to the seven acre conservation easement already given to the township to protect Ennis Creek.
· Timber Shores is good for the local economy, good for local jobs and good for the community.
· The economic benefits offered by this resort include a $15 Million build out, estimated taxes of $168,000 per year, payroll of more than $500,000, operating expenses of $1.5 million and 20 full-time and part-time jobs plus all the local business generated by visitors.
The Timber Shores Commitment – Demonstrated environmental stewardship through legal commitments to EGLE including the wetlands permit, the wetlands restoration plan and permanent conservation easements.
