Response to Watershed Center Criticisms: Inaccurate

In two letters to the Leelanau Township Planning Commission, Heather Smith of the Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay criticized various elements of the Timber Shores proposal. In this response Timber Shores environmental consultant Chuck Wolverton refutes the Watershed Center claims and provides accurate up-to-date information about key environmental elements of the Timber Shores proposal.

Chuck Wolverton is a natural resources consultant and has more than 45 years of experience in natural resources analysis with an emphasis on wetlands. Mr. Wolverton was employed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for 16 years in the lakes, streams, wetlands and Great Lakes regulatory programs. He was project leader for the National Wetlands Inventory in Michigan and was involved in the statewide implementation of the Michigan Wetland Protection Act. Following early retirement from the DNR Mr. Wolverton has worked in private sector natural resources consulting for the past 30 years. He was certified by the Society of Wetland Scientists and received the designation of Certified Professional Wetland Scientist. The Ecological Society of America named him a Certified Senior Ecologist.
